Georgene M. Cordes

Georgene bowled in the following leagues: Men's Cedar Classic, Ladies Cedar Classic, Uptown Ladies Classic, Diamond Lake South 120 League and the Metro Classic League at Baden's Stadium Bowl in Bloomington, Minnesota. Her sponsored teams included: Golden Valley Lanes, Hanson Service, Farm Engineering (Savage), Elmer N. Olson, Co., Falconer's Cleaners, Arrow Wood Realty and the Metro Bowler. Georgene also competed on the Diamond Lake Fun Centers squad with longtime teammate Shirley Sjostrom (HOF - 1986). In 1966 she won the '600 Club' sweeper (4 games) with a score of 923 ad set a new state record. She has eight Minneapolis City Tournament Titles. Her first came in the 1958-1959 Team Event with Falconer's Cleaners. In 1962-1963 she won the All Events Title and then in 1968-1969 she won the Doubles Title with Shirley Sjostrom. In 1969-1970 she was fortunate to win the Team Event with Hanson's Service. Then in 1976-1977 she won the All Events crown again. In 1977-1978 she won the Team Event and she won the Singles Title in 1980-1981 with a 644 set. In 1983-1984 she won the Scratch All Events title with a 1,879. She also has two Minnesota State Scratch Team Titles when she bowled with Golden Valley Lanes and The Metro Bowler.Georgene bowled in the Professional Women's Bowling Association (PWBA) for approximately 20 years and her highest finish was 8th place. She also bowled with the Ladies Professional Bowler's Association (LPBA) for two years and made both finals. Her high game was 297 rolled in LaPorte, Indiana in 1975.She won four tiles in the Women's Central Bowling Association (WCBA) and she won the Women's Division of the Tribune Classic twice. She has five (5) Ladies Central Bowler Association (LCBA) tournament titles along with being named the LCBA Bowler of the Year in 1983. She was a member of the LCBA 1st Team All Star Team in 1982 and the 2nd Team All Star Team in 1983.Georgene has a high game of 300 as well as a 297 game. Her high series is 750 with a year-end high average of 206 in 1969-70. (3rd in the nation). She has had four 700's in one season and 19 in her career. She had had 18 consecutive 600 series and a high of 18 strikes in a row. This came in 1969-70 which at the time was a national record. She had the high average in the State of Minnesota for two years (1975-1976, 200 and 1978-1979 with a 187). As of May 2005 she has participated in 44 USBC Women''s Championships / WIBC Championship Tournaments.
