Leif W. Carlson

Leif has been a straightaway sanctioned league bowler for many years. He has League Championships in the Twin City Classic, All-American, Diamond Lake Classic, Cedar Lanes Classic, Apple Classic, Lariat Classic, Nokomis Classic, Saxon Straightaway, Chanhassen Classic and the Data Trend Masters. In addition, he has won many high average awards in the classic leagues. In tournaments, Leif started his winning ways in 1978 at the Minnesota State Bowling Association Tournament in Duluth, Minnesota by winning the Actual and Handicapped Doubles event with Mark Brettingen. Continuing on in the State Tournament, Leif won the 1983 Actual Singles Title and the 1997 Actual and Handicapped Team Titles. Leif has a State Title in three decades - 70's, 80's and 90's. In the Greater St. Paul Bowling Association Tournament Leif has eight (8) titles. Starting in 1991 he was part of the team that won the Actual Team Event. Also that year, Leif won the George Dodor award for his 763. He won the Actual Double Event back to back in 1993 and 1994. In 1994 he also won the Handicapped Doubles Title. Their 1,499 established a St. Paul City doubles record. Moreover, in 1995 his team won the Actual and Handicapped Team Title. In 1998 Leif was back at the top in the St. Paul City by winning the Actual Doubles Event. In the Minneapolis City Tournament, Leif started in 1987 by winning the Actual Doubles Title with John Eiss (HOF 1990) and another with Gary Arntzen in 1995 with 1,328. Leif has two Central Bowlers Alliance (CBA) Titles: June 1979 with Frank Stupka and October 1999 with Dave Hoppenrath. He was named to the CBA 2nd All-Star Team in 1980-81. He has numerous top 5 and top 12 finishes in the CBA. His high game is 300 (4), and his high series is 790. His high end of the year average is 215. Leif continues to be very active and competitive in this great sport.
