Nancy I. Johnson

Nancy started bowling in California in 1946 and then joined leagues in 1953. Locally, Nancy has been one of the most consistent bowlers of the metro area. She has maintained league averages in the 180+ for many years. She was a charter member of the Ladies Central Bowlers Association and she holds three Ladies Central Bowlers Association (LCBA) titles (October, 1983, January 1984 and September 1986). Her Minneapolis City Tournament titles include three Team Titles coming in 1967-1968, 1969-1970 and 1977-1978. She has a Doubles title with Gerry Lawrence (HOF 1990) in 1974-1975. Her most recent accomplishment was in the 1987-1988 Minneapolis Women's City Tournament Doubles Event at Hopkins Bowl where she and teammate Juette Holseth (HOF 1991) set an all-time city record scratch doubles series of 1,320, adding four pins handicap for 1,324 to win the event. She went on to win the Actual All Events Title with a 1,719. On March 16, 1995 while competing with the River Liquor Store Team at Wallaby's, they set the 5-Woman high game for the state of Minnesota with a 1,252. Nancy had a 228 contribution. Others were Tracey Magnuson (HOF 2005), Anne Hodde, Diane Marget (HOF 1997) and Joy Corbett (HOF 1994). She has competed in approximately ten WIBC National Tournaments and approximately 20 Minneapolis City and Minnesota State Tournaments since 1961. Her high game is 279 with four 700's and a 748 on January 7, 1976 at Cedar Lanes in Bloomington, Minnesota as her highest series. She has a high average of 195 in the 1970-1971 season at Cedar Lanes.
