Phillip 'Phill' H. Hoiosen
Phill started bowling at the age of 15 and was encouraged by his parents that both bowled. Phill has donated many, many hours to the bowlers of the Minneapolis area. As of the date of his induction, Phill has served the Minneapolis District Bowling Association as Director for 13 years, Vice President for 5 years, 1st Vice President for 6 months, President for 1-1/2 years. He has also served in the capacity of Past President for 2 years representing the organization both locally and nationally. He has served as Chairman of the following committees; YABA, Historical, All City Team Selection, Nominating, Suspension and Re-rating, and the Executive Committee. The work and dedication of Phill has reached many junior bowlers over the years. Phill has served on the YABA Committee for 22 years and 12 years as a Director. He has worked with the junior's singles tournaments and he could be seen at the YABA state tournaments. In addition, Phill has served many national events held here in the local area. Some of these are; National Coke Tournament, regional Collegiate tournaments, Olympic Festival, National Amateur Championships, women's US Open, Special Olympics, Minneapolis Masters Tournament, Minneapolis City Championships and the City Mixed Couples Tournaments. Phill has been a certified coach and instructor helping many local boys and girls with bowling. Phill has been a league secretary for a total of 29 years with the longest as secretary of the 27th & Lake 'A' League from 1968 to 1989 at Stardust Lanes in South Minneapolis. Phill's most interesting sponsor was Henry W. Anderson Mortuary. Phill's high game is 279 and a high series of 749. He has been a steadfast supporter of bowling and has diligently worked to promote bowling over the years.
